Kena Smalls
Strategist. Builder.
The Person Behind the Studio.
Kena Smalls is the strategist, builder, and creative leader behind Aila Design Studio, LLC. Her path to founding this studio was not a straight line — it was over two decades of deliberate, hands-on experience across the government, nonprofit, real estate, and freelance digital marketing sectors. Collectively, it built something no single industry could have produced on its own.
Through her work, she learned how organizations function from the inside out and she mastered the art of guiding people through complex, high-stakes decisions with clarity and confidence.
In 2016 she began her journey in freelance digital marketing part-time. During the 2020 shut down, she launched her full-time practice, serving businesses across the country with strategy, website design, branding, and social media services. During that time she built a strong team of four, increasing her capacity to serve.
It was during those years that her conviction deepened: that too many brilliant businesses are invisible online — not because of a lack of effort, but because of a lack of the right strategy, the right design, and the right partner.
In 2025, she made it official. The formation of Aila Design Studio, LLC. was a deliberate investment — a commitment to deepening the impact of everything that came before it and building a studio to further empower and support the businesses she had spent years serving.
Today, Kena leads a team of five bringing together website design, brand identity, social media, email marketing, and complete digital strategy under one intentional, cohesive roof.
She understands what it feels like to invest in something that matters, to trust someone with your vision, and to need a partner who will show up with both expertise and genuine commitment to your outcome.
